Meet Sepideh. An Iranian-Canadian filmmaker whose debut feature, One Must Wash Eyes, went from a script she started in 2020 to opening night at GEMFest to streaming on Amazon Prime. Picking up Best Canadian Feature, Best Screenplay and Best Debut Director along the way. She’s now developing a mystery thriller and a documentary, which means she’s back to the part where she stares at a wall and calls it work. Off the clock, she’s on a mountain bike in Lynn Valley or in the kitchen making tahchin and fesenjoon well enough that people start showing up uninvited. Career icons: Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Taika Waititi. Actual icon: her mom. Hidden talents include some dance moves and falling asleep roughly four seconds after her head hits the pillow.
