Maya P

Meet Maya. She was born in Campbell River on unceded Wei Wai Kum territory, with a mixed heritage from indigenous Zimbabwe & Turtle Island. She is the founder of Vancouver Black Library (@vanblacklibrary), works for a housing safety advocacy group in the DTES, and does commercial acting & modelling. She’s exceptionally close with her mom, her Gogo (grandmother!), and her little brother, whose pro wrestling career is a point of pride for her. She cooks a mean sadza, loves making Spotify playlist, and gives amazing tarot readings — and if you ask her, retrograde is to blame for most things.
